hardwood floor – YouTube – How to Install Westhollow Solid Hardwood Flooring
The steps that you take ensure that the wood is well protected and looks stunning at the same time. Once you have finished with the hard work, the rooms that you finish the floors will look spectacular.
The first step in finishing hardwood floors is sanding. Begin the process with a coarse sandpaper to remove most of the finish and stains that were previously on the floor. To avoid creating grooves in the floor, make sure that you keep the sander moving at all times. Allowing the sander to sit in one place for too long will dig too deeply into the floor in just that space. Change the sandpaper with finer grit paper as you sand the floors.
Before applying any finish to the floor, you must make sure that the floor is absolutely clean. Remove all of the dust and grit from the floor after sanding ensures that the finish applies smoothly and does not get dust and dirt trapped under the finish. The products may not adhere properly to the floor if it is not properly cleaned.
Use a rag to apply your stain. Some people use a brush to apply stain and then remove the excess amount with the rag. Using the rag from the first step will save you a step and get the stain on the floor in even amounts right from the beginning. It may seem like hard work, but in the end, the stain will be evenly coated without any darker areas on your floor.
Floors in good condition do not have to be stained. The natural colour of the wood may fit in better with the décor of your home better. Polyurethane should be applied with a roller or a brush. The coats must be allowed to dry in between t ensure that the floor is properly protected. You should wait approximately three days before you move heavy furniture back onto the floor or your area rugs.
A richly coloured hardwood floor can add to the look of any room. Dark stains create a rich elegant look to the room and lighter coloured floors are stunningly natural. You might be surprised at what is under the flooring currently in your home. Take a look under the carpet to discover if you have a gorgeous hardwood floor waiting to be exposed. The floors in your home make a great difference in the way a room appears.
Choose some great area rugs to complement the hardwood floors and the look will be complete. Remember to care for your hardwood floors with regular cleaning and making sure that dirt and dust is swept up daily. Dirt can scratch a hardwood floor when it is tracked into your home.
